STEP is an acronym for Standardized Test of English Proficiency. It is designed to be an objective and unbiased test of a person’s level of proficiency in the use of English.

The test is made up of the following four components: 

1. Reading Comprehension 

2. Structure 

3. Listening Comprehension 

4. Compositional Analysis 

The results are needed to meet the English Language proficiency needs of students in the Arab Gulf region. 

Who takes STEP Exam ? : 

The STEP Exam is taken by students who are seeking: 

■ Admission at a University or College as an undergraduate. 

■ Admission to a Graduate Program. 

■ Exemption from certain courses. 

■ Teacher certification. 

■ Employment in the private sector. 

■ A report of English proficiency for private use.
